In Helena, Montana the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives issued a warning letter that it is illegal to sell firearms to medical marijuana users. Marijuana and Gun-Rights groups say that this takes away their Second Amendment rights; however, federal law states that "it is illegal for anyone who is an unlawful user of, or is addicted to marijuana or any controlled substances." So legally this does cover medical marijuana users.
I totally agree with this article. Just because they think they are not endangering society by smoking marijuana and carrying a gun doesn't mean anything. The human mind works so differently when someone is taking drugs, legally or illegally. We already have enough drug dealers/users and gang members that walk or drive around under the influence while carrying a firearm, not saying that these people are anything like that, but authorities already have a hard enough time trying to keep those people off the streets, they shouldn't have to worry about these people as well. I used to live in Montana and it kind of freaked me out that it was okay for people to walk around in public with guns on them, I cannot even imagine how much more freaked out I would have been if all of those people had been high.
