Fifty miles outside of Des Moines, Iowa a pear tree in a couple's garden appears to be growing a pumpkin. When inspected it was discovered that a nearby pumpkin vine had grown up the tree causing the pumpkin to appear to be growing from the tree. No one has ever seen anything like this and random passersby have stopped by this garden to witness the phenomenon. The pumpkin was discovered on labor day and the gardeners are hoping that it stays in the tree until it turns orange, just in time for Halloween. The Des Moines television station KCCI covered this story.
Its crazy how mother-nature works, no one would have ever expected something like this to happen. Its crazy that a fruit as heavy as a pumpkin could manage to grow up in a tree. I would think that when its ripe it would fall and burst into ruins on the ground below, I hope not for the gardeners' sake. Maybe they can find a way to unwind the vine from the tree when the pumpkin starts to get to heavy, and maybe it will be one of those special pumpkins that grows to be enormous. Its also pretty neat that this happened just in time for the holidays where pumpkins are used such as Halloween and Thanksgiving. I would be very proud of my garden if I were these people to have something so extraordinary happen to their crops. I would definitely want to show it off to the world like they did. Then again they might not get as much publicity as others have in the past for unusual plant or crop growth, which is sad because I feel this story is just as amazing as the rest of them.
