At the West Indian Day Parade NY cops were caught dirty dancing with female dancers performing in the parade. A video of the incident surfaced on YouTube shortly after it was taken. Officials are looking into it but no word of any disciplinary action has been announced. In the video you see one of the women come up and start grinding on one officer who starts to get into it, then you see other officers getting a little too "down and dirty" with other female dancers. Their commanding officer says that over the years he has seen the men in blue get into the spirit of the parade, but he claims that this is taking it too far. Two shootings were reported during the parade, it is not yet evident that these shootings were close to where the dancing occurred. Some NY citizens think that the officers should be punished for not doing their jobs, but others think that it was ok for them to have fun and still do their jobs considering the women in the parade started dancing on the officers first.
If you watch this video you can see that the women did indeed start dancing on the officers first, however in my opinion the officers should not have engaged in this kind of behavior. They should have just ignored the dancers and gone about their duties of watching to crowd. Had they been doing their job correctly they would have heard the reports of the shootings and gone to investigate. A murderer probably got away all because these cops were participating in the "festivities". I wonder what the families of these men thought when they saw the video, their behavior is honestly disgusting and I would be very ashamed of my husband/father/brother for doing such a thing while on duty. I understand that sometimes it is ok for these men to let loose and have fun because their jobs are very stressful, but there is a time and a place where it is appropriate and this just was not it. I don't think they should loose their jobs over this situation but they should be punished in a way to let them know that this behavior is unacceptable. I also believe the video should be taken off of YouTube. They have most likely had their fair share of embarrassment. They don't need this video haunting them for the rest of their lives. I'm sure that after these officers saw themselves on this video they regretted ever doing such a thing. Not everyone actually enjoys making a fool out of themselves.
